Happy Holi by Hilary Watson. School Journal Part 2 Number 2, 2001.

WALT: Identify the key occurrences in the text and applying the ideas in the text to the wider world.

Referring to the images on the first two pages, what do you think the text is about? I think that this book is all about kids buying toys and having fun and putting paint on themselves. Because they have dye color paint on the mix with water

What is a festival? It a celebration of something that you celebrate for someone or something

What are some festivals celebrated in New Zealand and overseas? christmas happy new years easter and your birthdays Queen birthday. halloween

In what country does the Holi festival take place, take a screenshot of a map of the capital of India. Share any knowledge you may have of the capital or any other places in India, ensure you have arrows pointing  the city you are giving information about.
                                                                I
India is in the middle of the map India is the most populous country and by far the biggest by area and the second largest country.

Why is Holi celebrated? The colourful Hindu festival it is a celebrated son a full moon in phalguna (March).

Why is Holi a festival that the children look forward to? What things about the festival surprised you? It is really cool that the put water gun on each other and powder on them the children look forward it putting to throw dye all over there friends .

How is Holi the same or different to our festivals? Different because they celebrate something from there country and they celebrate different because we don’t use dye  and throw it to our friends. and everyone is covered on colours

• “What parts of the article describe differences between life in New Zealand and life in India?” Because they use dye and colour and water in there celebration and we don’t India has different celebrations to new Zealand.

Research the following words, wealth, generous, smear, disagreements, mischievous. What do they mean?
1. Smear means something messily with a greasy or sticky substance.
2. Wealth means an abundance of possession.
3. Generous means showing a reading of more of something, especially money.
4. Disagreements means lack of consensus or approval.
